  • The University Club Foundation and the Community Affairs Committee celebrated the 15th Annual Richard W. Peterson Back-to-School Backpack Day, last Sunday, August 6. Made possible through a generous donation from the late Richard W. Peterson, The University Club Foundation’s Back-to-School Backpack Day is an annual event that provides backpacks and school supplies to the children and/or grandchildren of Club employees and campers from Luther Place ArtSmart. Kids were able to pick out complimentary backpacks, stuffed with school supplies, for the upcoming school year. This fun-filled event also featured complimentary sundaes for the whole family, a balloon artist, and a face painter. ——— #ucfoundation #uclubdc #backpacksforkids #backtoschoolevent #givingback #empowerthrougheducation #supportingyoungminds

The University Club had the privilege of hosting the 2023 Tewaaraton Award Ceremony last week. With its establishment in 2000 by the University Club, the Tewaaraton Award stands as a remarkable tribute to exceptional male and female collegiate lacrosse players, while also paying homage to the sport's Native American roots. As The Tewaaraton Foundation carries on this time-honored tradition, it becomes increasingly apparent that the profound connection between today's lacrosse heroes and the original warriors distinguishes this award from all others in the realm of sports. Since its inception, the Tewaaraton Award has received support from esteemed organizations such as the Mohawk Nation Council of Elders and US Lacrosse. This validation from both the authorities of the native era and the modern era holds immense value. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Tewaaraton Foundation for entrusting us with the privilege of hosting this prestigious event. It has been an absolute honor to be part of the 2023 Tewaaraton Award Ceremony and contribute to the celebration of exceptional collegiate lacrosse players while paying tribute to the sport's Native American heritage. ________ #uclubdc #tewaaratonaward #2023tewaaratonawardceremony #tewaaraton #lacrossehonors #nativeamericanheritage #celebratingexcellence #sportstradition #honoringlegends #lacrosseheroes #partnershipgratitude #preservingtraditions #prestigiousevent #grateful #washingtondc #lacrosse #dcsports
